Communities of interest
The Network of Budddhist Organisations has a range of ‘stakeholders’, or communities of interest. These form the broader community of those who support the NBO. The NBO encourages cooperative action from all who support our aims and it is easy to join as a supporter, whether as an organisation or an individual. (Please go to our ‘Join the NBO’ page if your wish to do this).
After a year, organisations that have been NBO supporters can apply if they wish, to become NBO Members. Members are able to vote where appropriate and hence can play a fuller part in administering the NBO. Members are also required to affirm their support for the NBO aims and its Code of Conduct.
The NBO also has an Advisory Group – individuals who we call upon for guidance from time to time. Advisors will generally have particular expertise that the NBO can benefit from to ensure that it meets its aims and works effectively.
Over time we will also establish partnerships with other organisations whose aims are in harmony with our own.
As the NBO is a charity (limited by guarantee) it must meet various legal requirements and has a board of trustees to ensure that these are complied with.
The many communities of interest that make up the NBO and their relationships are shown in the diagram.
