Buddhist Action Month 2014

Buddhist Action Month 2014

This year, Buddhist Action Month (BAM) is June, and it’s part of a new government multifaith initiative, Together in Service (TiS).

However, whereas TiS is an English project only, BAM is UK-wide. BAM is being co-ordinated by the NBO, in partnership with the Triratna Buddhist Community.

Altruistic actions rooted in Buddhism
As before, BAM encourages and celebrates any kind of Buddhist-inspired socially beneficial activity, but the suggested theme is care of the environment. Whatever you choose, it’s significant that your event

    • a) brings people together and
    • b) is rooted in your teaching and values as Buddhists.

What’s a typical BAM activity?
There isn’t one! There’s a huge range of possibilities, from tree planting to public talks and events at your Buddhist centre or temple. You could decide to register as a Fair Trade Temple, as one Buddhist retreat centre has already done.
